Beau Dickinson is excited to announce the release of his article, "Teaching to a Better Test: Using the Inquiry Design Model to Reframe State-Mandated Assessment in Social Studies," co-authored by Dr. Kathy Swan and Dr. Gerry Swan, in the latest issue of Social Education. This piece highlights a groundbreaking shift in Virginia, where, for the first time, students earned their required graduation credit in social studies through a series of inquiry-based performance assessments rather than a traditional multiple-choice test. Beau is the President Emeritus of the Virginia Social Studies Leaders Consortium and the Social Studies Supervisor for the Rockingham County, Virginia Public Schools.
